I just stumbled upon this time saving trick in Shopify. And you need to know about it.
You know the drill…you want to create an email campaign highlighting some products as a way to drive sales for those products. So you visit MailChimp:
- Create a new campaign
- Choose a template
- Start adding your products one by one, which means you also have to:
- Upload product images (but you can’t find them on your computer, so you download them from your site, then upload them to MailChimp…again, one-by-one)
- Add links to those images
- Add text
- Add pricing
- Add a “Buy Now” link
I love MailChimp. I worked for them. I’m loyal to them. They the most full-featured email newsletter tool available that is actually a joy to use. But it even takes me longer than I’d like to create these campaigns.
First, you’ll need to install the MailChimp app for Spotify.
Then head over to your Products section in Shopify and select the products you want in the newsletter.
Here you can see that I want to create a campaign for some loose leaf oolong tea so I filtered for just “Oolong.”
After selected the products I want, click on Bulk actions > then click on MailChimp.
Next, choose a template. Now it’s a bit unfortunate that it does not show me any of my custom templates as those already have my logo and colors, but I’ll take what I can get. 🙂
I like the two images side by site, but you can choose any you like. Click Send to MailChimp and then you’ll be taken to the MailChimp campaign editor where the campaign can be customized and fine tuned.
One caveat is that the products are added using a code block. If you try to edit the products, you won’t be able to using the easy-to-use drag and drop editor. Instead, you’ll see HTML.
